Being as grotesque as possible is passe these days, but it was right in tune with '90s gaming. Thrill Kill is a fighting game that allows four people to fight in a 3D environment. The shtick here is the extreme violence and morose characters. Unfortunately, the game's content caused it to be shelved by the publisher.
Jennifer is stalked throughout the house by Scissorman, an instantly recognizable character to many, who shuffles around the mansion wielding a giant pair of scissors, which he frequently uses with murderous intent. There are several endings to the game's narrative, making it one of the greatest on this list for replayability. With the 2024 rerelease bringing Clock Tower to western audiences in a modern format , there has never been a better time to experience the terrifying story.
Nightmare Creatures does not mess around. Thankfully, the game controls just fine, because this is also one of the hardest PS1 horror games ever made.

Parasite Eve II is a survival horror RPG like its predecessor, though this game feels more free and allows characters to do more. There are less constraints, no random battles, and Aya can kill enemies from anywhere on the screen rather than having to get up close and personal.
Featuring Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as the newest protagonists of the series, you room the dangerous zombie-infested streets of Racoon City looking for clues and solving an influx of puzzles. What’s interesting about this entry is that the CGI cutscenes still hold up pretty well. Unless your standards are high, then you may disagree with this statement.
