Naughty Dog wanted Drake to embody the everyman archetype. E. Daniel Arey, former Naughty Dog creative director, said that "there is a fine line between jerk and lovable rogue", and that they developed Drake to be more human and accessible: "If a hero constantly shows their human side, we relate and forgive any seeming overconfidence because we’ve all been there". [ 12 ] Neil Druckmann , lead designer of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , explained that Drake was meant to react to situations in the manner that the average player might. [ 13 ] Hennig commented:
The Japanese version of the game is censored to remove blood, which normally appears when shooting enemies; this follows the trend of other censored console games in the region, such as Dead Rising and Resistance: Fall of Man . [ 9 ]
Meeting up with Sam, Nate followed his brother out the orphanage's limits, before being presented with a 500cc motorcycle Sam bought him as a gift, which he realized was Sam's way to apologise; Sam then revealed his intentions to leave for at least a year due to his new job, in order to get money to eventually discharge Nate from the orphanage, much to Nathan's shock and dismay as he was tired of his life in the orphanage. Trying to cheer his younger brother up, Sam also revealed he tracked down their mother's possessions. The two then proceeded to plan on stealing them.
