In Japan, Canon has a % share of the DSLR market. And they have a market-leading % share of compact cameras (based on BCN data for 2021). So they are a trusted brand.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that the A7 IV boasts a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000s, available in both mechanical and electronic shutter modes. On the other hand, the A6700 can achieve the same exposure speed, but only when using the electronic shutter.
Sony's a6xxx range has been a go-to system for travel photographers since its debut, and I think that the Sony a6700 is the best entry yet. Sony continued the pocket-friendly compact body but filled it with the latest sensor for 4K video, fast shutter speed, and incredible subject-tracking autofocus.
The A6000 has the same 24-megapixel resolution as later models and essentially the same physical design. The viewfinder resolution is lower and it only shoots 1080 video not 4K, but for stills photographers that won’t be an issue. The autofocus system is more primitive by Sony’s standards but still stacks up well against systems from rival brands, even today. If you just want a stills camera, this will do the job as well as all the others that have come since, and for a lot less money. Later cameras have better processors and better high-ISO image quality, and the A6500 has a much better burst depth. And if you want in-body image stabilization, you need either the A6500 or A6600. Otherwise, the A6000 still has what it takes.
While one of the greatest issue Leica lovers had against Sony was their lack of Rangefinder-style cameras. Sony’s A series have always been DSLR like, and if you wanted a rangefinder-style camera you needed to go with an APSC sensor. This is no longer the case with the Sony A7C. This is nowhere close to feeling like a rangefinder but using it is much better if you do not like using DSLRs.
