While the Series X comes with 1 TB of storage, the Series S only has half that at 500 GB. Both machines use the same high-speed solid-state drive required for next-generation performance. They're also both upgradable in 1 TB increments via Microsoft's additional proprietary storage solution.

Xbox All Access isn't a terrific deal with the Xbox Series X. At $35 a month, once you subtract the price of the console you're shaving only about 80 cents off putting the console on your credit card and subscribing separately to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. (If you don't have a credit card, remember that in order to sign up for the plan you still have to pass a credit check with Microsoft's third-party financing company, Citizens One. The latter is the only way to subscribe to All Access as well.)
Xbox Series X comes with a 1TB SSD— more than enough space for games and media, which can hold up to 10-12 games. If you’re not an avid gamer, though, 5 games should be more than enough. While extra storage won’t directly improve performance, it can help prevent the system from slowing down when you’re running low on space. That said, Xbox Series S packs only 512GB SSD, which means more frequent management of game installations. Still, if you’re not going to foray on the storage, this will do just fine for a couple of heavy games.
The Xbox Series S might be tiny, but there’s a lot of power inside. The console targets a resolution of 1440p instead of native 4K (though some titles can output at a full 4K), and is capable of 120fps gaming. Though its GPU is considerably less powerful than the Xbox Series X's, it boasts an almost identical CPU and 10GB of GDDR6 RAM. That’s less than the 16GB the Xbox Series X, but it’s considerably more than the Xbox One S, which only has 8GB of GDDR3.
Otherwise, both include the same user interface, the same controller, and the same Xbox Velocity Architecture that enables features like Quick Resume . Both have the same media apps like Netflix and Prime Video , but more importantly, both can play exactly the same games. From what we’ve seen, people are drawn to the sheer power of the Xbox Series X. But don’t overlook the advantages of the more affordable model. Both work well and both can serve a different audiences.
Neither console is likely to leave you disappointed; the Series X is for people who want true 4K power, while the Series S is a good choice for those with a restricted budget or anybody who wants a companion machine to sit along the PS5 (Xbox's exclusive library is thin but with a few worthwhile games not on PlayStation).
