In Mind Over Mutant , some titan species began building settlements across Wumpa Island . The inhabitants are not jackable and look quite different to most other titans of the same species. They are also uniquely capable of speech, offering Crash directions and encouragement on his journey. Mind Over Mutant also allows the player to store jacked titans in a pocket dimension and withdraw them at a later time. The pocket can only hold one titan at a time; if a new titan enters the pocket, the old one will be withdrawn immediately. Scorporillas , Yuktopuses and bosses cannot be stored in the pocket.
Whereas the previous games featured Crash spinning into or jumping on an enemy to attack, Crash of the Titans gives him more options for attack. Early in the game, Crash has a light-powered attack and a heavy-powered attack and can also block, dodge or break an enemy's block. When he defeats an enemy or destroys an object, mojo is released. When Crash collects enough mojo, he will earn either an ability upgrade or a new move, such as the Norris Roundhouse or the Triple Dragon. His classic spin attack, named "Old Skool", is an unlockable move, along with an aerial variant that allows Crash to float over chasms.

Après avoir été humilié en ayant été contraint de faire équipe avec Crash Bandicoot dans Crash TwinSanity , pour vaincre Victor et Moritz , les Jumeaux Maléfiques, le Docteur Neo Cortex décide de transformer les animaux de l' île Wumpa en affreux mutants et enlève Coco la petite sœur de Crash Bandicoot afin qu'elle l'aide à terminer le Doominator , arme de destruction massive programmée pour éliminer les Bandicoots et réduire l' île en esclavage. Face à ce danger, Crash et Aku Aku doivent faire leur possible, car Crunch a quant à lui été congelé par le rayon réfrigérant du dirigeable de Cortex et ne peut plus bouger... Cependant, Cortex sera remplacé à cause d'une nouvelle défaite qui énerve Uka Uka et ce sera sa nièce, Nina Cortex , qui prendra la relève... Malgré son effort, Nina a fini par échouer face à Crash et le Doominator s'écrase à côté de la maison de Crash. Nina demande à Cortex pourquoi il l'a secourue alors qu'elle l'a trahi et repris son plan, mais Cortex répond qu'il est tellement fier de Nina ensuite il deviendra un très méchant dans le prochain épisode Crash : Génération Mutant. Puis qu'il va quand même punir Nina. En bas, Crunch peut enfin bouger et Coco décide de manger des crêpes et quant à Crash il prononce son tout premier mot : "Des crêpes".
